The fastest way to build AI apps

We’re excited to introduce Writer AI Studio, the fastest way to build AI apps, products, and features. Writer’s unique full-stack design makes it easy to prototype, deploy, and test AI apps – allowing developers to build with APIs, a drag-and-drop open-source Python framework, or a no-code builder, so you have flexibility to build the way you want.

Writer comes with a suite of top-ranking LLMs and has built-in RAG for easy integration with your data. Check it out if you’re looking to streamline how you build and integrate AI apps.

GitHub Digest

Hopefully, you are already using secret scanning. It is a great way to ensure that any accidentally committed secrets are captured ASAP so you can rotate them.

With the new changes, GitHub will add a public leak and/or multi-repo label to them when applicable. Providing a better understanding of the scope and impact of the found secret.

It is good to see that a company is aware of and actively working on diversity and inclusion. The below blog post describes their efforts, not only internally, but also to the outside world.

I had the opportunity to visit GitHub Universe in 2023 and it was a great experience. This time I will join remotely due to other commitments.

So if you are unable to join in person, check out the other options. And if you are there, say hello to my colleagues from Xebia, as we are sponsoring, have a stand and present at Universe.

PS Joining in San Francisco, then check out the badges, as you can program them yourself.

Are you a nonprofit organization, then you might be eligible to get a free GH Teams plan. Check the fine print, and see if you can apply.

Coding Corner

Data Formulator is a Microsoft Research project that allows you to use LLM to transform data and create rich visualizations. A combination of user interactions and natural language should make it easier for users to create charts while AI is transforming the data.

You can use the Codespace to try it out!

Do you wonder how GitHub Copilot is actually integrated into Visual Studio? Anson Horton describes the history of AI tooling in VS and how the actual GitHub Copilot came into play.

Good news for JetBrain Rider fans, you can now use Rider for free when you use it for non commercial usages.

I primarily use Rider (and with a Mac, this is the best tool next to VS Code), so it is good to see more people can enjoy and play with this system.

.NET Nook

You might have seen the Result pattern popping up. It is a more functional way of returning flow to the caller and allows you to work around the more traditional exception throwing.

Andrew Lock provides some interesting code samples on how to work with this Result type.

Unlucky number 13 or will this be the best c# version yet? At least it will have another set of nice updates such as partial properties, a new lock class etc. See anything you want to start using?

“I stopped watching the news, so sick of the bias. Was searching for an alternative that would just tell me WHAT happened, with NO editorializing. I found it. It’s called 1440. It assumes you are smart enough to form your own opinions.”
